Thank you to everyone that attended our Parent Education on August 21, 2012. It was great to see such interest in Montessori philosophy!

Looking Ahead into September! 

•  Due to the Labor Day holiday, classes will not be in session on Monday, September 3rd. Classes will resume at the regular time on Tuesday, September 4th. Have a wonderful extended weekend!
  
  
• The first School Board Meeting of the year will be held on Tuesday, September 4th at 3:15 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
   
• Wednesday, September 12, 2012 is Picture Day. Look for picture packets and pricing information in the purple folder next week. 

• Wednesday, September 12th is an Early Release Day. Students will not need a lunch unless staying for aftercare. Students will be dismissed and aftercare will begin promptly at 11:30 a.m. 

• Come to Reading Club on Thursday, September 13th @ 3:15p.m. Parents, students and siblings are invited to attend. The first session will run from 3:15 until 3:45 p.m. (To participate in Reading Club, children must be accompanied by a parent.)
  
  
• Afternoons of Montessori are informational sessions that highlight and provide information about Montessori education and philosophy. The first Afternoon of Montessori will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 3:15 p.m. The focus will be on healthy lunches. This is going to be a fun, hands-on activity for parents and their Montessori child. Because we need an exact head count, a sign-up registration sheet will be located on each classroom’s bulletin board. Please sign up and mark the date on your calendar. Child care will be provided for younger siblings.

Silent Auction items are needed for April 28, 2012

The 4th Annual Silent Auction/Talent Show is scheduled for Saturday, April 28^th.  This is a fun community event and is a great way to showcase the talents of our students. Please consider donating items of value for the fundraiser - we are accepting items for the auction until April 23, 2012. Please see your child’s teacher for more information or to contribute.  Contributions are greatly appreciated.

The owners of the DeAnza Trails RV Park, Bob and Amy Solfisburg, have graciously allowed us to use their community room for the event.    The RV Park is located at 2869 E. Frontage Road in Amado.

·        The evening will begin with a spaghetti dinner.  Tickets for the dinner will be sold in advance and will not be available at the door.  Tickets must be purchased by Wednesday, April 25^th and are available for $6 per person in the Administrative Office or in your child’s classroom.

·        Dinner will be served from 5:15 until 6:30 p.m.   

·        The Silent Auction will run from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

·        The Talent Show will begin at 7:00 p.m.

·        Mark this date on your calendar for a fun-filled evening.

I m p o r t a n t  I n f o r m a t i o n    -    2^nd Grade Standford 10 Testing

The 2^nd graders will be testing on Monday and Tuesday, April 23 and 24, 2012.  It is always important to get a good night’s rest and eat a good breakfast before testing and everyday.  Everyone needs to be in attendance on testing days.

Spring Picture Day

Spring Picture day is scheduled for Wednesday, April 25, 2012.  Siblings are welcome for Spring Pictures.  Orders are pre-paid.  The office will not be responsible for late orders.  Look for the picture packet in today’s purple folder.

Early Release

Wednesday, April 25, 2012 is an Early Release Day.  Your child will not need a lunch unless they are staying for Aftercare.  Aftercare wil begin promptly at 11:30 a.m.

Board Meeting

Tuesday, May 1, 2012 is the next Montessori de Santa Cruz Board Meeting.  The meeting will begin at 3:15 p.m.  Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, May 3^rd and Friday, May 4^th .  Both Thursday and Friday will be Early Release Days.  Aftercare will begin promptly at 11:30 a.m.  Child care will be provided at no cost during your parent/teacher conference.  Charges will accrue at all other times.

Looking Ahead…

·         The calendar for April and May 2012 are enclosed in the purple folder today.

·         The next School Board Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 3:15 p.m.  Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

·         Tryouts for the Silent Auction/Talent Show are scheduled for the afternoon of Thursday, April 5^th.   Start making plans for your act now!

·         School will not be in session on Friday, April 6^th and Monday April 9^th for Mid Semester Break. 

·         The 4^th Annual Silent Auction/Talent Show is scheduled for Saturday, April 28th.  The De Anza RV Resort at Amado has offered the use of their Community Room once again.  The evening will consist of a spaghetti dinner, silent auction, and talent show.   Tickets ($6) for the spaghetti dinner will be available in advance and must be purchased by Wednesday, April 25, 2012.   Save this date on your calendar for some family-friendly fun!   

·         Donations for the Silent Auction are being accepted now.  Please bring your items to the Administrative Office after April 10^th.

·         AIMS testing is scheduled for the week of Monday, April 16th through Friday, April 20th.  Everyone in 3^rd, 4^th, 5^th, and 6^th grades  must be in attendance on these days.  Getting a good night’s sleep and eating a good breakfast is important on testing days and every day!

·         Stanford 10 testing, for 2nd grade only, is scheduled for Monday, April 23rd and Tuesday, April 24th.  Second graders must be in school on these two days.  Getting a good night’s sleep and eating a good breakfast is important on testing days and every day!
